How to get Started in the LML Process®
When teachers learn about their own learning connections and add that insight to their knowledge of their students’ learning connections, they begin to see the interaction between learner and instructor with a new perspective. Suddenly, teachers begin to discover ways to reach students who may have formerly been viewed as inattentive, disruptive, or difficult. Students in turn develop a better sense of self to accomplish the task on their own. By using the right tools for learning the roles of the teacher become more rewarding.
- The first step in meeting the needs of your students is to understand how each child learns.
- The next step is finding out the Learning Pattern combinations of each of your learners. The Learning Connections Inventory asks individuals to respond to 28 statements and three open-ended questions about learning, and identifies the patterns a learner uses “Uses First,” “Use as Needed,” or “Avoids.” The learning patterns identified provide valuable insight and information regarding the learning process for each family member. The LCI can be taken in paper form or online.
- Once the learner has taken the Learning Connections Inventory the interactive process reveals itself in four learning patterns. These four learning patterns are sequence, precision, technical reasoning and confluence.
- The next step is to help your students understand how s/he can make his/her learning combination work successfully. This means that your students will learn how to decode and simplify the directions in order to know what learning patterns they have to use in order to choose the best strategy for the learning task.
When becoming a facilitator of learning, Let Me Learn will equip you and your students with strategies to succeed by providing the following: common vocabulary to explain how you learn, tools to simply the directions and understand the task, and personal strategies to tackle the assignment with success.
You can schedule a Demo to personally speak with a certified LML Specialist who can help direct you in how to get the LMLP started in your school.
